Hair-color makers search for a better way
More than half of all women color their hair. For the easiest and best results, they go to a beautician to have it done. It's less trouble, looks better, and may last longer than doing it themselves.
But it costs more, so many women put up with a less-satisfactory job and possibly dye stains on their towels.
Proctor & Gamble and L'Oreal, the two largest makers of home hair dye, want to improve the process. After P&G acquired Clairol in 2001, and European hair-care company, Wella, in 2003, the company was determined to change hair coloring from an infrequent chore to a "frequent, delightful beauty experience."
L'Oreal scientists are closing in on "the right medium brown." The right medium brown is a baseline for the other colors, from black (1) to light blond (10).
Natural nail beauty
Though artificial nails are the best way to have 10 nails that always look great, advances in technology have resulted in great products that give a woman who wants beautiful nails a natural choice.
Your nail technician can recommend and apply strengthener, oil, creams, cuticle removers, and conditioners using Alpha Hydroxy Fruit Acid. She may recommend hand antioxidant oil which protects your hands from accelerated aging from exposure to the elements.
Home maintenance kits are available, which can keep your hands and nails looking beautiful between salon visits.
'Smokey eye' for a sultry look
You can create the smokey eye for an elegant look by using these techniques.
* Use a primer or a creamy concealer for a base.
* The darkest color will be the liner, either liquid liner or pencil. Unless you're experienced with liquid, use a pencil. * Get as close to the lash line as you can, even dotting liner between the lashes. Draw the line thicker in the middle.
* Experiment with various colors of eye shadow to see which is best for you.
